Peruvian Pepper Tree

Weeping, fine-textured, and evergreen, with pink peppercorn clusters that hang all through autumn. Extremely drought tolerant and a genuinely elegant shade tree for a dry Lebanese garden.

Flower colour: Creamy white
How to care: Full sun and free-draining soil, tolerating poor, rocky, and dry ground. Water through the first summers, then almost never; this is one of the most drought-proof shade trees available. Prune in winter to lift the canopy and manage the weeping habit. Note that it produces litter from berries and fine leaves, so site it away from pools. Roots can be greedy, so allow space.
