A dense, glossy evergreen fig used everywhere in the region for shade, street planting, and heavy clipped hedging. Grows fast, takes hard pruning without complaint, and casts genuinely useful shade.

How to care: Full sun to partial shade in almost any soil that drains. Water regularly while establishing, then moderately. Responds well to hard pruning and can be clipped into formal shapes or hedges several times a year. Be aware that the root system is aggressive and invasive: keep it well away from drains, pools, foundations, and paving, or plan for root barriers.
