A miniature date palm reaching only two or three metres, with a slender trunk and fine arching fronds. The palm to use in a courtyard, beside a pool, or in a large pot on a terrace, and equally happy indoors in bright light.

Blooming season: Spring
Flower colour: Cream
How to care: Bright light with some shelter from harsh midday sun, in free-draining soil kept lightly moist. Less drought tolerant than larger date palms and unhappy if it dries out completely. Protect from frost. The leaf bases carry sharp spines, so wear gloves when removing spent fronds and site it away from paths where people brush past.
