The classic indoor palm, tolerating low light and dry rooms better than almost any other. Small, slow, and undemanding, it has been a houseplant for well over a century for good reason.

How to care: Bright indirect light or genuine shade; direct sun scorches the fronds. Keep the compost lightly moist and never waterlogged, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Mist occasionally in dry winter air or group with other plants to raise humidity. Feed lightly in spring and summer. Brown leaf tips almost always indicate dry air or hard water rather than underwatering.
