California Fan Palm
Washingtonia filifera
واشنطونيا فيليفرا
Stouter and heavier than the Mexican fan palm, with a thick trunk and a dense crown. Slower growing and more cold tolerant, which makes it the better choice slightly inland or at modest altitude.

- How to care
- Full sun in free-draining soil. Very drought tolerant once established and more cold hardy than most palms here. Water through establishment, then sparingly. The persistent skirt of dead fronds is characteristic and provides habitat, though it is often removed in formal settings. Wear gloves for the sharply toothed leaf stems.
