Arching blue-green strap foliage with sprays of small violet flowers followed by unusually intense blue-purple berries. Variegated forms are widely used to lighten shaded planting.

How to care: Partial shade to full sun, with better colour and less scorch in some shade, in well-drained soil kept lightly moist. Moderately drought tolerant once established. Remove spent flower stems and tired leaves at the base rather than shearing across the top. Divide congested clumps in spring. Protect from the harshest afternoon sun at low altitude.
