Strap-like arching foliage topped with violet flower spikes in late summer, followed by black berries. Tougher and more sun tolerant than mondo grass, and excellent as a low edging along a path or drive.

How to care

Sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established and unbothered by root competition. Cut the whole clump back to a few centimetres in late winter before new growth starts, which keeps it fresh and dense. Divide every few years to rejuvenate. Variegated forms hold their markings best in partial shade.
