A large architectural grass forming a substantial arching clump, with silky plumes from late summer that dry to pale silver and stand right through winter. Superb backlit by low autumn sun.

Blooming season: Late summer to autumn
Flower colour: Silvery, pink or copper plumes
How to care: Full sun in well-drained soil that holds some moisture. Water while establishing, then moderately drought tolerant. Cut the entire clump to the ground in late winter, before new shoots emerge, since cutting late damages the new growth. Divide large congested clumps every few years. Leave the dried plumes standing through winter for structure rather than tidying them away in autumn.
