Long weeping branches hung with bright red bottlebrush flowers, repeating intermittently from spring through summer. Tough, fast, and tolerant of poor soil, heat, and coastal wind.

How to care: Full sun in free-draining soil. Drought tolerant once established and highly tolerant of salt wind, though it also copes with occasional wet ground. Prune immediately after each flush of flowers to keep it dense and encourage the next; pruning late removes the developing buds. Can be grown as a weeping tree on a single trunk or as a large informal shrub.
