Flowering Shrubs
Gardenia
Gardenia jasminoides
غاردينيا
Grown entirely for the scent. Waxy white flowers against glossy dark evergreen leaves, strongest in the evening, which makes it the plant to put beside a door, a seating area, or an open window rather than at the back of a bed. Also sold as Cape Jasmine.

- How to care
- Gardenias are the one genuinely fussy plant in this catalogue, and everything comes down to soil: they need acidic, humus-rich, permanently moist but well-drained ground, and they will yellow badly in the limey soils common across much of Lebanon. Growing in a pot of ericaceous compost solves this. Bright light but shade from harsh afternoon sun, high humidity, rainwater where possible, and an acid-loving plant fertiliser through the growing season.
Available in small, medium, large. Exact pot size and plant height are confirmed when we reply to your order.
