Fruit Trees
Sweet Cherry
Prunus avium
كرز
Spectacular in flower and demanding in fruit. Cherries want mountain cold, deep soil, and someone willing to argue with the birds. Where conditions suit them, in the Lebanese highlands, few trees are more worth the trouble.

- How to care
- Full sun in deep, well-drained soil with room to spread. Most sweet cherries need a compatible pollination partner. Prune in summer only, since winter cuts invite bacterial canker. Water steadily through fruit development and stop just before harvest to avoid splitting. Net the tree as fruit colours or expect to lose the crop. Choose a dwarfing rootstock if you want fruit within reach.
