Mango

Strictly a coastal and frost-free proposition in Lebanon, and a striking evergreen where it works, with bronze new growth that flushes several times a year. In cooler areas it makes an excellent large container tree given winter shelter.

Fruiting and harvest: July to September
How to care: Full sun, heat, and sharply drained soil, with complete protection from frost. Water regularly through the growing season and reduce sharply in the cool months, since a dry period actually helps trigger flowering. Feed in spring and after harvest. Prune after fruiting to keep it compact and open. Cold nights below 5C damage flowers and young growth, so plan for shelter at any altitude.
