How to care

Full sun and poor, well-drained soil; rich ground produces leaf at the expense of fruit. Restricting the roots, either in a large container or a lined planting pit, reliably increases cropping. Water while fruit swells and then leave it alone. Prune in early spring to keep the tree within reach and to remove frost-damaged tips. The milky sap irritates skin, so wear sleeves when pruning in summer.
