Evergreen Shrubs
Japanese Mock Orange
Pittosporum tobira
بيتوسبوروم
A dense, rounded evergreen with whorls of leathery leaves and creamy spring flowers that smell strongly of orange blossom. One of the most reliable structural shrubs for Mediterranean and coastal gardens.
- Blooming season
- Spring
- Flower colour
- Creamy white, fragrant
- How to care
- Full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil, tolerating drought, salt wind, and poor ground once established. Water through the first summers, then occasionally. Clips well into hedges and rounded forms; trim after flowering. Naturally dense, so it rarely needs renovation, though it will reshoot from older wood if cut back. Watch for scale insects in still, sheltered positions.
