How to care: Full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating drier and poorer ground than other Abies. Water deeply through the first summers, then moderately. Handles heat better than Nordmann or silver fir but still dislikes waterlogging. Prune only for damaged wood. Gives a softer, more informal silhouette than a spruce, so allow room rather than shearing it.
