How to care

Full sun, deep, well-drained soil, and genuine space; this tree eventually reaches enormous size and resents being crowded or moved. Water deeply through the first three or four summers to establish the root system, then leave it to find its own water. Do not plant in heavy, wet ground. Prune almost nothing beyond removing damaged wood, and never cut the leading shoot, since the natural form is the entire point.
