Foxtail Agave

Agave attenuata

The softest and most sculptural agave, forming large pale green rosettes with no terminal spine, which makes it safe beside a path. Mature plants send up a long arching flower spike like a fox's tail.

Flower colour: Greenish yellow
How to care: Full sun to light shade in sharply drained soil. Very drought tolerant, needing occasional deep watering at most. Unlike most agaves it has no sharp tip, so it can be planted near seating and walkways. The rosette dies after flowering, but offsets around the base carry the plant on and can be separated and replanted. Protect from hard frost.
