Candelabra Aloe

Aloe arborescens

A large branching aloe that produces tall orange-red flower spikes in the middle of winter, when almost nothing else is in bloom and pollinators need it most. Forms a substantial shrubby clump.

Flower colour: Orange-red
How to care: Full sun in sharply drained soil. Extremely drought tolerant; water occasionally in summer and keep dry in winter. Tolerates coastal conditions and poor rocky ground. Remove spent flower spikes and any collapsed lower leaves. Propagates very easily from stem cuttings left to callus for a few days before planting. Protect from prolonged hard frost.
