Indoor Plants
Ficus Bonsai
Ficus microcarpa
بونساي
The most forgiving way into bonsai. Ficus microcarpa tolerates indoor conditions, irregular attention, and beginner pruning far better than a traditional juniper or pine, while still thickening its trunk and aerial roots into something that reads as a real tree in miniature. Supplied already shaped.
- How to care
- Bright indirect light, ideally near a window it can stay at, since ficus dislike being moved and drop leaves in protest. Water when the top centimetre of soil dries, soaking thoroughly and letting the excess drain away, and never leave the pot standing in water. Mist to raise humidity in dry rooms. Pinch new shoots back to two leaves through the growing season to build ramification, and repot every two to three years in spring, trimming the roots as you go. Feed lightly but regularly from spring to autumn.
