Gazon (Lawn Grass)

A hard wearing ryegrass blend put together for Lebanese summers rather than northern European ones. It knits quickly, takes foot traffic, and recovers from a hot dry spell faster than a fine ornamental lawn. Supplied as turf or seed depending on the area.

How to care

Success is decided before the grass arrives: cultivate to a depth of at least 15cm, remove stones and roots, level carefully, and firm the ground. Water daily for the first three weeks, then move to deeper and less frequent watering, which drives roots downward. Mow once it reaches about 7cm and never remove more than a third of the blade in one cut. Feed in spring and autumn, and scarify annually to keep thatch down.
