Climbing Wisteria
Wisteria sinensis
وستارية
Two weeks a year, wisteria turns a pergola into the reason you built it. The rest of the season it is a generous, fast growing shade plant. Ours are grafted and already trained onto a cane, which is what separates a vine that flowers in three years from one that never quite does.
- Blooming season
- April to May
- Flower colour
- Lilac to violet
- How to care
- Plant against something genuinely strong, since a mature wisteria will break trellis and lift gutters. Full sun gives the best flowering. Water well through the first two summers while the root system establishes. The pruning matters more than anything else: cut the long whippy growth back to about five leaves in midsummer, then shorten those same shoots to two or three buds in winter. That twice yearly cut is what produces flowers instead of endless leaf.
Available in small, medium, large. Exact pot size and plant height are confirmed when we reply to your order.
